Bayer Backed 9
In 2014, Bayer ran The Bayer Backed 9 program as a large scale demonstration program.
The aim of the program, to show you as Turf Management Professionals how the Bayer portfolio of products could be utilised within a management program.
Working in conjunction with selected Course Superintendents, Jyri Kaapro created a program on each course Back 9 holes using only Bayer products.
Our cases study give you practical tips on everything from correct application of insecticides, pesticides and fungicides, to compliance with laws regulating chemical use.

Wollongong Golf Club
Wollongong Golf Club is an 18 hole links-style course, currently undergoing some modifications by Ross Watson, located on the coast of Sydney. Greens are Bentgrass/Poa. Tees and fairways are kikuyu or couchgrass. Being on the coast generally good air movement occurs but still diseases like Pythium and Dollar Spot generally occur in summer months.

Indooroopilly Golf Club
Indooroopilly Golf Club is a 36 hole parkland golf course on the Brisbane River. The course has couchgrass (Bermudagrass) from tee to green. The ERI diseases are a common problem on couchgrass and they are concern at Indooroopilly Golf Club. Being in the sub-tropical area Crowsfootgrass is a common weed problem.

Sorrento Golf Club
Sorrento Golf Club is an 18 hole hilly course established in 1907. Tees and fairways are couchgrass with relatively new bentgrass greens. Located on the Mornington Peninsula south of Melbourne the weather ranges from hot summers to relatively cold winters. Like many courses in southern parts of Australia wintergrass is one of the key management issues on all turf surfaces.

Strathfield Golf Club
Strathfield Golf Club is located in heart of the metropolitan Sydney area. The kikuyu fairways are tree lined with greens of various ages. Older greens have a higher ratio of Poa, while the newer greens are still dominated by Bentgrass. Pythium and Dollar Spot are two of the common diseases.

Sanctuary Cove Golf Club
Sanctuary Cove Golf and Country Club consists of two courses. The Pines and The Palms. Both courses have numerous water features and hazards. Like all golf courses in this region of Australia the turfgrass used is couchgrass on all turf surfaces. Caterpillars and scarab beetles are common insect pests. The common couchgrass diseases Spring Dead Spot is always a concern.
